  • Recipient(s) must agree to abstain from using tobacco and alcoholic beverages while receiving the award
B. J. O'Dell Sherman Endowed Scholarship
  • Major: Theatre
  • GPA 2.0
  • Freshman Theatre major or Oral Communication (Speech and Theatre) as a first teaching field
  • Advisor will be a Theatre or Oral Communication advisor, a faculty member of the Speech Communication & Theatre Department within the School of Fine Arts
  • Scholarship is renewable
Ted A. & Catherine L. Shriver In Memory Of James R. Shriver Endowed Scholarship
  • Student must demonstrate financial aid need and should be a junior or senior undergraduate student in Electronics Engineering Techology or Architecture who has a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • If such a student cannot be identified, this will be awarded to a senior undergraduate FSU student in any major who has a minimum GPA of 3.5
  • Ideally, the student receiving the scholarship will be conducting research, independent study, or comparable type of project with a FSU faculty member

Rev. Donal "Jack" Squires Endowed Scholarship
  • Financial need
  • Recognized member of FSU football team
  • If no qualified applicants the eligibility may be extended to members of FSU men's basketball Team, FSU women's basketball team or FSU baseball team
    • Must meet all NCAA, MEC and FSU eligibility requirements
  • Priority to graduate of Marion County School System
Leah and Franc Stern Women's Athletic Scholarship
  • Female athlete at FSU
    • Must meet all NCAA, MEC and FSU eligibility requirements
Bill Stewart Football Scholarship Endowment Fund
  • Awarded to a senior member of the FSU football team who demonstrates the moral character and leadership skills of Coach Bill Stewart
  • Scholarship recipient selected by football coaching staff and AD
Student Government Association Scholarship
  • Full-time student at Fairmont State University
  • Classify as a Junior or Senior and have completed a minimum of 60 credits
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 
  • Must meet Financial Aid SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress)
  • Scholarship to be used for tuition and/or university fees

Christiane Buck Sweeney Scholarship
  • French or French Education major

  • May award to freshman or returning student

Tahoe Management Group (West Side Park) Impact Scholarship
  • First-time freshman
  • WV Resident
  • Resident of one of the following counties:  Barbour, Fayette, Gilmer, Greenbrier, Harrison, Lewis, Marion, Mineral, Nicholas, Preston, Randolph and Upshur
J. Lyle Tatterson Charitable Trust
  • West Virginia resident
  • Graduate of West Virginia high school
  • Two- or four-year program
  • Sound character
  • Financial need
  • GPA of 2.5
  • May be renewable with 2.0 GPA after the first year and then a 2.2 GPA thereafter
TBI Turley-Wallman Endowed Scholarship
  • Member of Tau Beta Iota fraternity
  • Eligibility will also be extended to the Tau Beta Iota alumni and their immediate families
    • Immediate family is defined as a parent, brother, sister, child or grandchild of any member of TBI Fraternity
  • If no qualified applicants in any academic year, no disbursement will be made
  • Must maintain a 3.0 overall average and be making normal progress toward a normal four- or two-year degree completion and considered a full-time student
  • Good moral character
  • Demonstrated willingness to serve the college and the local community
  • Participation in functions and activities of TBI fraternity
  • Participation in extracurricular activities

  • Student majoring in English (literature)

  • First-tiem Freshman and Upperclass students
  • Minimum 2.5 grade point average
  • Meeting satifactory academic progress
  • 1st Preference-resident of Preston County, WV
  • 2nd Preference-resident of Fayette County, PA 
  • Demonstrate financial need
The Nepal Honors Scholarship
  • Nepalese origin
  • Member of the Honor's Program
  • Must declare major
  • Required to live on campus in a residence hall for the first 2 years, based on current univeristy policy
  • Freshman and Upperclass student
  • Must be used for tuition/fees/books and room/board (if on campus)
Adna Irl and Mary Jo Thomas Endowed Scholarship
  • Full-time student
  • Preference to East Fairmont High School graduate
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA for initial award

Glenn & Elsie Toothman Endowed Scholarship
  • Preference is given to incoming freshmen but upperclassmen may also apply
  • Award amount divided evenly between the School of Education and the College of Science and Technology
Cooper Joseph Towns Memorial Scholarship in Nursing
  • Application Deadline: March 1
  • Student will be required to provide an essay that relays an applicant's interest in Pediatric Nursing as a career choice
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 entering into their sophomore year
  • Preference is for a sophomore student in good standing enrolled in the FSU Associate of Science in Nursing degree program who is a WV student of current residency and demonstrates financial need
  • Scholarship is renewable to an A. S. student possessing a minimum GPA of 2.5 who is enrolled as a full-time student in the Bachelor of Science Degree Nursing Program
  • Award is permissible to students receiving other financial assistance or scholarship from the Fairmont State Foundation only where that financial assistance provided does not exceed the demonstrated need according to the Financial Aid Office
  • Be an undergraduate student
  • Be working toward your first bachelor’s degree. 
  • Complete your Fairmont State University admissions file (general application, high school transcript, and college transcripts) prior to entry to Fairmont State University by July 1st

  • Student pursing a B.A. in Education with the comprehensive (K-12) Music Major in the School of Fine Arts
  • Strong preference to resident of West Virginia who demonstrates financial need and is making suitable academic progress
  • Renewable up to four years but renewability is not guaranteed
  • For Nursing students may be actively pursuing the B.S. degree in Nursing in the FSU School of Nursing
  • Strong preference will be given to a resident of West Virginia who demonstrates need and is making suitable academic progress
  • The scholarship can be renewable over the course of years up to four years, but any award in one year does not guarantee the award in succeeding years

Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US Post 629 Endowed Scholarship
  • Financial need
  • Recipient must not be receiving any other scholarship or aid from the Foundation
  • Incoming freshman
  • Full-time student
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA for renewal
  • West Virginia high school graduate with 2.0 GPA or combat veteran with GED
  • Priority: (1) members of Post 629 (2) spouse, children or descendant of Post 629 (3) U.S. Veteran of Foreign Wars (4) spouse, children or descendants of a veteran of foreign wars
  • Renewal for a maximum of eight semesters
  • Must meet criteria and making progress toward degree
Helen Romano Viggiano Elementary Education Endowed Scholarship
  • Full-time student
  • Pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with a lifelong commitment to classroom instruction
  • Must have entering GPA of 3.0 and is recommended to maintain same to seek renewal
  • May be eligible to renew the scholarship for a maximum of eight semesters
  • Primary, but not exclusive, consideration will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as determined by FSU Financial Aid

Betty Jo Wright (Class of 1941) Social Work Scholarship
  • Student must be of junior class standing pursuing a four-year degree in Sociology or Psychology within the College of Liberal Arts

  • If award is made at the senior class level, no award will be made at the junior class level
