Fairmont State University’s American Society of Civil Engineers team placed 12th at the 35th Annual National Concrete Canoe Competition taking place over the weekend at Louisiana Tech University.

Fairmont State University’s American Society of Civil Engineers team will compete at the National Concrete Canoe Competition taking place June 3 – 5 at Louisiana Tech University.

Fairmont State remains the only institution in the State of West Virginia to ever qualify for the ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition. In addition, the University holds the overall record for the most consecutive national appearances in the competition.

Fairmont State to host 2021 ASCE Virginias Conference

Fairmont State University will host the American Society of Civil Engineers 2021 Virginias Student Conference this Thursday, April 8, through Saturday, April 10. The virtual event will bring together students from colleges and universities in West Virginia, Virginia and Washington, D.C. to network and participate in a series of engineering competitions.

The West Virginia Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has awarded Fairmont State Engineering Technology faculty, Professor Tabitha Lafferre E.I, the 2020 WV Young Civil Engineer of the Year Award. The award is presented annually to a distinguished civil engineer in the field. Candidates for the nomination must be a registered professional engineer or present evidence of formal intention to become registered.
