Each year Fairmont State University supports the United Way of Marion County annual campaign. Many faculty and staff contribute each year to help meet the campaign goal, which is set at $440,000 for this year. Students joined the campaign this fall by participating in a raffle for a prime parking spot – the president’s.

FSU Reads Offers Free Reading Enrichment for Kids

The Fairmont State University Reads program is preparing for its spring 2016 reading enrichment program.

The free program available to Marion County students in kindergarten through fourth grade will begin the week of Feb. 22. The after-school program will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays in Room 215 of the Turley Student Services Center on FSU’s main campus. The sessions will continue each week through April 18.

Student Volunteers Participate in Make Marion County Shine

More than 20 students and community volunteers participated in the Make Marion County Shine and state DEP cleanup on the Fairmont State University campus in Fairmont on Saturday, April 18.  The week also was National Volunteer Week. Organized by Stephanie Slaubaugh of the Physical Plant and Amy Drvar of the Office of Civic Engagement, the volunteers picked up 12 trash bags of litter in about two hours.
