Fairmont State students awarded West Virginia American Institute of Architects scholarships

Fairmont State University students Chloe Wean and Preston Frost were awarded scholarships from the West Virginia American Institute of Architects (AIA) for their outstanding work on semester projects. Every year AIA provides a scholarship to senior and junior architecture students who present notable projects. Wean and Frost presented their projects to AIA in December and were selected amongst three other students as scholarship winners.

Fairmont State hosted interactive Art, Architecture, and Design Exploration Day

Over 250 high school students from across the state attended the Fairmont State University Art, Architecture, and Design Exploration Day held on campus on Tuesday. 

Joel Dugan, Chair of the School of Art, Architecture, and Design, said this year they wanted to make the event more interactive and immerse the students into the culture of Fairmont State. Undergraduate students welcomed the high schoolers and guided them around while they were on campus.

Master of Architecture degree granted Initial Candidacy by NAAB

Fairmont State University’s Master of Architecture program has been granted initial candidacy from the National Architectural Accrediting Board. This is a huge step for the program toward becoming the first accredited professional architecture degree offered in the state.

Over Spring Break, March 13-17, Fairmont State University Architecture students traveled to England as a part of the Architecture Study + Travel course, which provided students the opportunity to explore one of the world’s great architectural cities, London, and explore one of the world’s oldest historic sites, Stonehenge.

FSU Students Participate in Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol

Fairmont State University students participated in the 14th annual Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol in Charleston on Feb. 24. The event’s purpose is to familiarize state legislators with research activities involving undergraduate students on campuses across the state and the educational impact of those activities.

FSU students invited to present were Benjamin Daily, James Jesmer, Brian Miller and Benjamin Wilfong.
