Fairmont State University’s Academy for the Arts has announced a robust lineup of summer camps for the 2022 season. The Academy for the Arts summer camps offer students opportunities to explore and build skills in the performing arts. Serving grades K-12, camps are offered in various subjects at convenient times to meet the needs of parents and children.

Fairmont State University honored College of Liberal Arts students for their academic achievement and named scholarship recipients at the 9th Annual Academic Awards Ceremony on May 3.

Many of the awards and scholarships presented at the banquet were made possible through gifts to the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc.

Constitution and civil liberties discussed by FSU panel

This year the College of Liberal Arts decided to host a panel discussion entitled: “With Liberty and Justice for All?: The Constitution and Civil Liberties.” With the goal of prompting civil discussion across campus, the panelists aimed to shed light on various historical and contemporary issues related how and why the Constitution — and, specifically, amendments to it — has aimed to define and protect the civil liberties of American citizens.

Language and Literature Announces Summer Research Fellows

Angela Schwer, chair of the Department of Language and Literature.  The six are Chelsi L. Latocha, Laura E. Morris, Lily M. Peterson, Joyanna N. Poe, Veronica Grace Ryan, and Thomas J. White.

The Fairmont State University College of Liberal Arts honored its high achieving students during the seventh annual Academic Awards Ceremony at the end of the spring 2017 semester.

Dr. Deanna Shields, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts; Dr. Maria Rose, FSU President; and RJ Gimbl, President of the Fairmont State Foundation, presented greetings and congratulations to the students for their academic achievements.

Fairmont State University’s outstanding faculty members were recognized on Wednesday, April 19, during the Recognition of Faculty Achievement luncheon for their exemplary efforts throughout the 2016-2017 academic year.

The event was hosted by the Faculty Development Committee, the Office of Academic Affairs and the Fairmont State Foundation. Funding for the awards and grants is provided by the Office of Academic Affairs and the Fairmont State Foundation.

FSU to Celebrate 148th Commencement on May 13

More than 400 students will participate in the 148th Commencement for Fairmont State University at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, in the Feaster Center.

Dr. Maria C. Rose, FSU President, will present special remarks for the ceremony, which will mark her last as president; she will retire when her contract ends on June 30.  Julian Pecora of Clarksburg will be the student speaker representing the Class of 2017.
