Fairmont State Forensic Science Program to Host 'Kickin it for Katy' 5K

The Fairmont State University Forensic Science Program will host the ‘Kickin it for Katy’ 5K run and walk on Saturday, April 2 on the University’s campus. All proceeds from the races will go to the Kaitlynn Towson Forensic Memorial Award to raise awareness around suicide prevention, benefitting Fairmont State students enrolled in the Forensic Science program.

Fairmont State University students in the College of Science and Technology presented their research during the 90th Annual Meeting of the West Virginia Academy of Science was held at West Liberty University on April 11.

Forensic Science Team Finishes Second in Regional Quiz Bowl

A team of  Fairmont State University students finished in second place in the Forensic Science Quiz Bowl competition at the Northeastern Association of Forensic Scientists meeting in Hershey, Pa.

Forensic Science majors Megan Collins of Mount Clare, Jackie Turner of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jenn Clymer of Holicong, Pa., and Marley Snider of Paden City competed as part of the FSU team on Thursday, Nov. 6.

2013 Student SURE Fellows Announced

Fairmont State University has selected five student research projects for funding under the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program.

Sara Davis, Jennifer Goggins, Courtney Swiger and Ian Williams have been named to hold the University’s prestigious SURE fellowships. They each will receive a stipend of $2,400 to conduct their projects between May 13 and June 30, 2013. Completed projects will be presented at the Celebration of Student Scholarship in April 2014.
