Fairmont State University will honor graduates as part of the 152^nd Commencement on Saturday, November 20. The University will celebrate graduating students from each of its five colleges during two separate Fall Commencement Ceremonies taking place in the Feaster Center on campus.

The Fall Commencement Ceremonies will take place as follows:

The tunes of Fairmont State University’s marching band will fill the fall morning air on Saturday, October 9, when the annual Homecoming Parade makes its return.

The Fairmont State University COVID-19 Task Force and Executive Leadership Team have worked closely with the Marion County Health Department and in consultation with other state agencies to reopen the University’s campus at full capacity, while maintaining the safety of the Falcon Family.

Matt Swain, Fairmont State University Chief of Police and Emergency Management Director, was among the sixteenth class of Generation Next: 40 Under 40 leaders recognized by The State Journal on Thursday, June 17 during a celebration at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center. Each year, Generation Next honors emerging leaders in various industries throughout the state for their achievements within their respective communities and the workforce. 

Fairmont State University invites the community back to campus to enjoy the area’s only Chick-fil-A and Starbucks. The University announced a phased reopening of its campuses beginning on Wednesday, May 5, with the University reopening Dining Services and Falcon Center restaurants to public patrons.

Over a year ago, Fairmont State University, home to so many within the community, closed its campus in order to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Today, the University is pleased to announce a phased reopening of its campus to all members of the community.

In order to provide the most meaningful experience for graduates and ensure successful Commencement events, each of the Fairmont State University Spring Commencement Ceremonies will take place indoors at the Feaster Center on campus. The University’s plans for the ceremonies have been approved in consultation with the Marion County Health Department to assure safe environments for all graduates, faculty, staff and university guests.

Fairmont State University will honor graduates during Spring Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the University will hold separate in-person ceremonies for each college or school at the Duvall-Rosier Field.

Fairmont State University distributed its first round of COVID-19 vaccines to members of the campus community Wednesday as part of a statewide effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus and fight the ongoing pandemic. 

More than a hundred members of the Fairmont State University campus community attended the swearing-in and promotion of four campus police officers.

Marion County Deputy County Clerk Tom Antulov officiated the swearing-in of Fairmont State’s new Chief of Police Matt Swain. In addition to Swain, John Nigh was promoted to Lieutenant, C.J. Funk to Lead Officer and Makenzie White was sworn in as a Patrolman.
