The Fairmont State University Career Development Center will continue its Tuesday Talks Series for the spring 2017 semester. The seminars were created by Director of Career Development and Civic Engagement Coordinator Amy Drvar and Career Services Counselor Meagan Gibson to help prepare students for life after graduation.

With the theme “There’s No Place Like Fairmont,” Fairmont State University will celebrate Homecoming 2016 from Thursday, Sept. 29, through Saturday, Oct. 1. The Fairmont State Alumni Association will welcome back the Class of 1966 for their induction into the Emeritus Club.  

The new leaders of the Fairmont State University Student Government Association want students to know that they have a voice in campus life and SGA is committed to making that voice heard.

Students, do you struggle with answering common and challenging job interview questions? Interviewing 101, a new workshop created by the Career Development Center, can help.

The workshop is open to all Fairmont State University students and will take place at 2 p.m. April 13 and 12:30 p.m. April 14 in Room 217 of the Turley Student Services Center.

The Fairmont State University Career Development Center will host its annual Job Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 16, and is seeking area employers who would like to participate.

“The Job Fair draws a large crowd is a great way to connect with potential new hires,” said Amy Drvar, Director of Career Development. “Fairmont State prides itself on providing its students and graduates with the skills they need to succeed in the workplace.”

Fairmont State senior, Samuel “Miles” Smith, has been elected Chairman of the State Advisory Council of Students, which operates as an extension of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC). 

The Nest Student Food Bank has found a new home with Student Government in the Falcon Center.

As the semester winds down, the 2013-2014 Student Government is just getting started. The executive officers will be busy this summer preparing for a new year of Firsts.

“SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”… “You can’t bring that food in here.”… “We only have reference material.”

From the musky smell, to the hair buns, cardigans and complete silence, libraries bring to mind very distinct images and experiences. The staff members of the Ruth Ann Musick Library on the shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College have broken that mold, making the library a place for everyone. 

About 600 students will receive degrees during Spring Commencement for Fairmont State University at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, in the Feaster Center.
