With the 2021-22 academic year quickly approaching, Fairmont State University is offering a series of “On-the-Spot” visit options to prospective students who are looking to finalize their plans for fall. 

Matt Swain, Fairmont State University Chief of Police and Emergency Management Director, was among the sixteenth class of Generation Next: 40 Under 40 leaders recognized by The State Journal on Thursday, June 17 during a celebration at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center. Each year, Generation Next honors emerging leaders in various industries throughout the state for their achievements within their respective communities and the workforce. 

Fairmont State University Assistant Professor of Art, Kylie Ford, doesn’t just teach her students about creative methods and techniques; she also imparts values that will inspire them to pursue successful careers as professional artists.  

Fairmont State University alumnus and Bridgeport native, Jason Henderson, has been appointed to serve on the University’s Board of Governors beginning July 1. Henderson currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer at Energy Transportation in Clarksburg.

This week, the Fairmont State University Aviation Center of Excellence welcomed its inaugural class of cadets to the summer 2021 U.S. Air Force Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps Flight Academy, a program that is offered by just 25 universities across the country through a partnership with the U.S. Air Force.  

“Every one of these cadets is so sharp, and you can really see their promise,” said Joel Kirk, Chief Pilot and Fairmont State Aviation Center of Excellence Director. 

Fairmont State University Director of Athletics, Greg Bamberger, has been appointed to the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics. Bamberger's appointment begins on September 1, extending through August 31, 2025.
 

Intelligent.com has announced the 2021 Top Online Military Friendly Colleges, ranking Fairmont State University among the best in the country. Fairmont State earned the sixteenth ranking of the 63 colleges named and received further special recognition for its ROTC program offerings.

Fairmont State University President, Mirta M. Martin, will serve as the Three Rivers Festival Grand Feature Parade Marshal on Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m. to launch the 42^nd annual festival’s events, celebrating “42 Years of Bridging the Past with the Future.”

Fairmont State University and the Fairmont State Aviation Center of Excellence honored Fairmont native and donor to the University, David McRobie, at a press conference and dedication ceremony on Friday.  

Fairmont State University student, Kaitlyn Stumpf, has been named the recipient of the 2021 Walter Regula Mathematics Teacher-in-Training Grant awarded by the West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics. The $600 award is granted annually to an outstanding college or university student training to become a mathematics teacher with intentions of teaching in West Virginia.
