African American History Bowl Team Trivia Game Show Feb. 21

Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College students have a chance to compete for a cash prize as part of The African American History Bowl Team Trivia Game Show presented by BRAIN STORM! Team Trivia Challenge.

Sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Office of Student Activities, the event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the second floor Main Street area of the Falcon Center on the shared main campus.

Women of Color Luncheon Planned for April 24

The annual Women of Color Luncheon, a celebration of diversity and achievement, is planned for noon Tuesday, April 24, in the Falcon Center third floor conference rooms. The event, sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, which serves Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College, is intended to honor those who have shown a commitment for treating people equally and for celebrating diversity. This year’s event will be organized by Dr. Tara Brooks, Director of Multicultural Affairs.

As a follow up February’s Black History Month program on “The Aubrey Stewart Project,” the Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Multicultural Affairs will host a showing of the movie “The Wereth 11” on the shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College. The event will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in the Falcon Center third floor conference rooms. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Office of Student Affairs will present an event on the main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College in commemoration of Black History Month. Piedmont native T.J. Coleman has made it his mission to share the story of Sgt. James Aubrey Stewart and to use the experience to promote racial understanding. He will give a presentation, titled “The Aubrey Stewart Project: Unity Through One Race…The Human Race,” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in Multi-media Room A of the Ruth Ann Musick Library.

A week of events at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College will help raise awareness about heart disease by supporting the Go Red For Women campaign. Heart disease remains the No. 1 killer of women.
