The Fairmont State University Department of Music is excited to announce assistant professor of flute at Fairmont State, Dr. Brianne Little, has won first prize in both the Paris and London Grand Prize Virtuoso Competitions. Winning this prestigious award has provided Dr. Little the opportunity to perform at the Amphithéâtre, Philharmonie (in Paris) on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 and at the Elgar Room, Royal Albert Hall (in London) on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. 

The Fairmont State University Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Fairmont State Alum and Fairmont native Neil L. King, will present a free concert November 28 at 7:30p.m. in Wallman Hall on the campus of Fairmont State. The event is free and open to the public. 

The Fairmont State University Department of Art is pleased to present, “Paintings and Drawings” by Jeremy Long in the J.D. Brooks Gallery at Fairmont State University. The show is currently on display from October 22 and will run through December 6 with a closing reception and gallery talk taking place Thursday, December 6 at 3:00p.m. Gallery hours for viewing the collection are Monday through Friday 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m.. The event is free and open to the public.   

The Fairmont State University Falcon Marching Band will present its annual Stadium Review Concert in Colebank Hall on the main campus of Fairmont State on Friday, November 9, at 7:30p.m. The concert will feature selections from our 2018 halftime show (West Side Story), pregame show, and stands music repertoire. The concert is free and open to the public. No registration is required. 

During the month of November, the Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folk Life Center will be commemorating the 50^thanniversary of the 1968 Farmington Mine Disaster. This event had a devastating effect on Marion County and the surrounding area, but it also brought about changes in mine safety. 

Fairmont State University is proud to host the 5th annual West Fork New Music Festival on the university campus Thursday, September 27th through Saturday, September 29th.  Nearly a hundred local, national, and international composers and performers will perform seven concerts on the campus of Fairmont State University and two additional concerts in downtown Fairmont.

The Fairmont State University theatre program is offering two school-day performances of “The Addams Family”, a musical comedy which includes themes of inclusion, acceptance, love, family, honesty, and coming of age. The performances will be Wednesday, October 31, and Thursday, November 1, at 9:30a.m. in the Wallman Hall Theatre on the campus of Fairmont State. The performance is 2 hours long and is appropriate for middle and high school students.

There are many well-known acting dynasties: The Barrymores; The Carradines; The Fondas. Did you know that Fairmont has its very own theatrical family? Fairmont natives Shannon and Chris Yost have been appearing together onstage with The Fairmont State University Masquers Town and Gown Summer Theatre since 2006, when they both played orphans in a production of Oliver. Now, 12 years later, they can be seen together again in this summer's presentation, The 1940s Radio Hour.

Grant Cooper, recently-retired Artistic Director of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, is completing an intensive ten days of teaching and musical collaboration at Fairmont State University. 

The Fairmont State University department of communication and theatre arts is excited to present “Voices Realigned: Rewind, Revisit, and Remember” an original theatre production. The play will be performed in the Wallman Hall Theatre on the campus of Fairmont State on April 26, 27, and 28 at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 304-367-4240.
