Fairmont State University receives grant for Campus Sustainability Projects

Fairmont State University’s Creative Sustainability Council (CSC), a campus organization focused on sustainability initiatives for the University and community, has been awarded a grant of $27,120 from the Appalachian Stewardship Foundation (ASF) to implement two sustainability initiatives on campus this summer. These initiatives have been designed in partnership with Aladdin Food Service and the Fairmont State Foundation.

Sustainability Council moves 2020 Earth Day event virtual

Despite the pandemic, Fairmont State University’s Creative Sustainability Council has been working to ensure that the 50th annual celebration of Earth Day on April 22 does not go unnoticed. This year’s objective is to educate about sustainability practices, acknowledge efforts made thus far, and remain hopeful for the progress that is to come.  

Blue lights on campus for Autism Awareness

Fairmont State University has continued the tradition to “Light It Up Blue” every April since the spring of 2012 to reecgonize Autism Awareness Month. 

Stephanie DeGroot, construction manager, said the event started when Cprey Cleavenger, a previous student, donated the blue lights to the physical plant.
