 West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie Tennant and members of her staff visited Fairmont State University on Tuesday, Dec. 6, to tour the Open Source Intelligence Exchange (OSIX), which is the laboratory and applied research component of the University’s National Security and Intelligence program. FSU is the first University in the state to offer a program of this kind.

Fairmont State University criminal justice students took second place in a national competition, and an FSU student successfully competed for a national office during a March 2011 conference in Toronto.

As part of the Fairmont State University Presidential Lecture Series, Dr. Deanna Shields will present "Citizenship in the 21^st Century: Fostering Educational Commitment."

A lecture and workshop series at Fairmont State University this spring will promote discussion about the social justice issues of civil liberties and universal human rights for prisoners during times of war. The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission has awarded FSU a $5,700 grant to help fund the events, which are planned for March 2010.
