Fairmont State’s General Scholarship application open for 2023-2024 academic year

Fairmont State University is now accepting General Scholarship applications for the 2023 – 2024 academic year. Both incoming and current Fairmont State students are encouraged to complete the General Scholarship application by March 1, 2023.

Tresa Weimer appointed to HEPC Financial Aid Advisory Board

Fairmont State University’s Tresa Weimer, Executive Director of Student Support Services, has been appointed to the Higher Education Student Financial Aid Advisory Board for the Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC). 

Weimer currently serves as the Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships, oversees Admissions, Student Services, and Student Systems. Her position on the board was approved by the HEPC on December 5, 2019 and her term will run through June 30, 2022.

Gaston Caperton Center to Host 2014 College Goal Sunday

The Gaston Caperton Center in Clarksburg will be one of 25 locations throughout the state to host the annual College Goal SundaySM event on Sunday, Feb. 9, presented by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.

The College Foundation of West Virginia (CFWV), the West Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and several other college access programs including TRiO and GEAR UP work together to coordinate the event.

Caperton Center to Participate in College Goal Sunday

The Gaston Caperton Center in Clarksburg will be one of 23 locations throughout the state to host the annual College Goal SundaySM event on Sunday, Feb. 10, presented by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.

Students and parents can receive assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) during the free workshops.

FSU Names Widney as Vice President for Student Services

Fairmont State University has named Kaye Caplinger Widney as Vice President for Student Services, the chief enrollment management and student services officer for the University.

With almost 40 years of experience in higher education, Widney is an experienced supervisor and budget manager, having served as Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships at West Virginia University and before that as Director of Financial Aid at Fairmont State.
