Tori Harper, a proud Fairmont State University alumnus who holds a bachelor’s in business administration with an emphasis in marketing, has joined the Fairmont State Foundation staff as a development officer.

Harper will be a front-line major gift fund raiser who cultivates and builds lasting relationships with donors and identifies funding opportunities that fit donor interests and desires.

Fairmont State University and the Fairmont State Foundation honored emeritus faculty member and advocate for international students, Dr. Tulasi Joshi and his wife Marilyn, at a press conference on Monday.  

Diversified Gas & Oil Co., the Birmingham, AL, company whose chief executive officer and co-founder is Fairmont State University graduate and Board of Governors member Rusty Hutson Jr., has committed an additional $50,000 in scholarships over five years to Fairmont State students.

Clarksburg native and president and co-founder of a private investment firm and his wife, an attorney, have developed a scholarship to support students from Harrison and Marion counties.

Long-time pilot and entrepreneur Don Judy has established a scholarship for Fairmont State University students seeking their commercial pilots license, the first of its kind at Fairmont State.

Judy, a sawmill owner who has been flying since the 1960s, retired in March after 30 years as a designated pilot examiner.

Fairmont State philanthropists, alumni and Harrison County natives, Rusty and Kimberly Hutson were honored during a press conference on Tuesday for a series of gifts totaling $500,000 to benefit the School of Nursing. The celebration included the unveiling of the newly named Rusty & Kimberly Hutson Family Nursing Simulation Laboratory. 

The Fairmont State Foundation recently elected new officers to serve in leadership roles and welcomed three new board members. Foundation serves as the non-profit organization that solicits and administers private donations on behalf of Fairmont State University. 

More than 30 Fairmont State students have received just over $4,500 in Falcon Student Academic Financial Emergency (SAFE) assistance since the program’s inception in late April.

Two Fairmont State alumni will continue to support a scholarship for football players over the next five years. 

Paulina Nottingham has joined the Fairmont State Foundation staff as the new director of development. 

Nottingham, who holds a both a bachelor’s degree in marketing and an MBA with an emphasis in nonprofit management from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, started Jan. 2. She will be working as front-line fund raiser, meeting one-on-one with donors to help them match their interests with funding opportunities at Fairmont State University.
