Fairmont State University will host the second annual Order of La Sila scholarship dinner on Sunday, April 28. At this year’s event, U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin III will be the second person inducted as a “Tall Pine” into the Order of La Sila.

The family of the late Sgt. Michael Todd May, representatives of the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department and members of the Fairmont State University community gathered on Tuesday, March 5, for a ceremony to dedicate donations made in May’s memory.

Fairmont State University will host a special event premiering a new promotional video for the University’s Open Source Intelligence Exchange (OSIX).

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Fairmont State University a five-year Strengthening Institutions Program grant totaling nearly $2 million. The grant will provide enhanced learning opportunities to help students succeed.

By enjoying hot apple cider by a campfire, browsing a silent auction, sharing a meal with friends and dancing to music by a local band, those who attend the second annual Blue Jean Ball will be assisting Fairmont State University students.

Fairmont State University alumni and their families are invited to attend the first annual Picnic at the Park in Clarksburg on Sunday, Aug. 5, hosted by the Fairmont State Alumni Association.

“We are looking forward to making this an annual event for our alumni living in the Harrison County area. It’s a great opportunity for alumni to re-connect and to enjoy a day of food, fun, friends and Fairmont State,” said Emily Swain, Director of Alumni Relations.

The West Virginia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America honored Fairmont State University with three awards at its 2012 Crystal Awards Gala, which acknowledges the best work of 2011.

The Fairmont State University Marching Band continues to grow, but band members need your help to look as good as they sound. First impressions matter, and the band wants to “Dress to Impress.”

The Fairmont State Alumni Association, Office of Institutional Advancement, the Fairmont State Foundation, the FSU Department of Music, the FSU Marching Band and the Fairmont State Band Alumni Association are inviting the community to participate in a fund drive to purchase new band uniforms.
