Fine Arts Students Donate to Hurricane Victims

Students in the School of Fine Arts at Fairmont State University recently traded coins for cookies to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

The Intercollegiate Debate Team sponsored a spare change drive among the students in the theatre, music and speech classes to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina who are housed at Camp Dawson. The class that collected the most money was treated to homemade chocolate chip cookies baked by the Dean of the School of Fine Arts, Peter Lach. The drive netted more than $1,000.

The debate team will also be participating in a program to provide coats for people displaced by the hurricane. This is a national cooperative effort sponsored by the national debate community.
