Fairmont State University is offering incoming freshmen and transfer students enrolled in the 2021-2022 academic year three opportunities to participate in Welcome Wednesday on-campus orientation sessions.
The in-person sessions will afford new students the ability to see campus, eat lunch with Freddie the Falcon, tour residence halls, obtain ID cards and meet with advisors and build fall semester schedules. Current students as well as staff will also be on hand to answer questions.
“Welcome Wednesday sessions are the opportunity to do what we’ve been waiting for a year to do, and that is begin to get back to normal,” said Chris Sharps, Fairmont State Senior Director of Recruitment. “Students really want that traditional, first-time freshman experience. They want that opportunity to come to campus, schedule their courses and really see themselves here.”
Welcome Wednesdays will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates:
• June 16
• June 23
• June 30
To register, visit www.fairmontstate.edu/welcomewednesday21. Family members are also invited to attend. Students who are unable to attend the in-person sessions can complete orientation online by following the instructions at www.fairmontstate.edu/orientation.
“I am so thrilled we are reopening campus, because it allows us to do what we do best,” Mirta M. Martin, president of Fairmont State University, said. “And that’s meeting face-to-face with students and their families, and helping them take the first, important steps toward achieving their dreams. Their educational journeys are just starting, but they will leave Welcome Wednesday knowing in their hearts that Fairmont State will be with them every step of the way, through graduation and beyond."
