Fairmont State University’s Academy for the Arts Youth Theatre Company is holding auditions for the spring production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. for kindergarten-12th graders. Auditions will be held on March 3 and 4, 2023 and group dance auditions will be held on March 4 in Wallman Hall on the campus of Fairmont State University.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. is directed by Elizabeth Wotring-Nelson and co-directed by Shannon Patricia Yost, choreographed by Desiree Joy Sowards. The show will run May 18-21 in Fairmont State’s Wallman Hall Theatre.
Auditions are open to kindergarten-12th graders; requirements include:
• 16-32 bars from a musical memorized (up-tempo preferred) with sheet music for the accompanist marked with your cut and a pre-recorded music accompaniment track.
• A one-minute monologue memorized (of any style).
• Updated resume.
• Headshot photo.
• Group dance auditions on March 4th. Students will learn approximately 32 counts of choreography as a group, students will perform it in small groups. 4th-12th graders will also be taught a simple waltz step with a partner

The tuition fee for Beauty and the Beast Jr. once cast is $195, and scholarships are available. It is free to audition.
The Academy for the Arts will provide a free audition workshop on Monday, February 27, at 6:00 pm.
