Two sophomore student-athlete representatives from Fairmont State University, Kristi Lynch (Womenâs Swimming) and Jenna Facemire (Womenâs Cross-Country) attended the WVIAC SAAC conference in Charleston on Wednesday, March 1.
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee is a new organization on the Fairmont State campus, composed of two athletes from each of the 15 campus athletic teams. The organization was formed to allow the student athletes on campus to meet and promote athletics among the youth in the community.
At the conference, Lynch and Facemire joined with representatives from other Division II schools, such as Wheeling Jesuit, Davis & Elkins, Concord, West Virginia State and West Liberty State College. The group of students spent the day in meetings discussing concerns and issues involved with student athletes on their campuses and then visited the Womenâs and Childrenâs Hospital for a couple of hours to read to the children patients. At the end of the evening, the student-athletes collected donations for SAACâs biggest philanthropic project, The Make a Wish Foundation.
